Youth Party in the Past

In a situation that nobody thought the reformist candidate could win the competition, the final results showed the victory of Seyyed Mohammad Khatami in 7 th presidential election in Iran . Most of his fans were youth and women and all of them hoped for a new period of freedom in Islamic Republic of Iran. We were some of those young people who hoped so. All of us were worried that if the new reforms can be continued for a long time? We had different meetings as some young students of political sciences debating on the present and future situation of new president's reforms and its consequences for Iranian society. But above all of those discussions, there were a more important question in our mind: "How much we can play an effective role in the new wave of reforms?" Establishing a new party which could be the voice of young fans of Khatami's reforms as the name of "Youth Party of Iran" was the answer of the question.

The Organized Youth Party

The Youth Party of Iran was established in 1998 and started its political activities. The main pillars of this party are: The Congress, The Central Council, Directorate General, Committees, Studying and Programming Office.

The Congress is the main pillar of the party which is held at least once in two years and includes all of the members of the party. The first Congress of Youth Party was held in 2003 and top Iranian reformist faces participated there. The second and the third Congress of the party have been held in 2004 and 2005. The Congress has the highest role in decision making of the party.

The Central Council is the main executive part of the party. The Central Council includes seven main members and three changeable members who are elected by the Congress for two years. The Central Council is responsible to the Congress for its political programs and activities.

Directorate General is nominated by the Central Council for two years. He or she has the duty of supervision on developments and harmony among different bodies of the party.

Youth Party of Iran has different committees with a specific duty for each of them on different issues. Political Committee, Organizational Committee, Training Committee, Executive and Financial Committee, and finally Communications Committee are the most important committees of the party. Committees are working under the supervision of the Central Council.
